Oman Trip

During August the wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We decided not to give any gifts, but to rather use the money to go for a short holiday to Oman.

We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in Muscat. It is a 5 star beach resort and it was worth every penny. We basically looked like a lot British tourists that never see the sun and parked ourselves in the swimming pool the whole time. I complain a lot about how hot it is during summer in the Middle East but the upside to this is that you are always guaranteed good weather in summer. I’ve heard of many people booking a holiday on some tropical island and then it rains the whole time. Well, you don’t have that here. It is hot, every day. Guaranteed. The downside is that we burned ourselves really bad. I couldn’t sleep for about 2 nights due to the pain, but hey, it was worth it.

Here is what the place look like.

Looks super - pity about the sunburn. We made the same mistake on honeymoon at Paradise Island off Mozambique.

I have heard sooo many good things about Oman. The last time we were in Dubai we planned to go into Oman but the visa complications were too tricky. So we went to Dibba, which really is super friendly, such nice people. I would love to go properly into Oman one day!
